Plant, Create and Feel the Magic in Your Garden

Oh, Adam was a gardener, and God who made him sees that half a proper gardener's work is done upon his knees. So when your work is finished, you can wash your hands and pray for the glory of the garden, that it may never pass away. by Rudyard Kipling, The Glory of the Garden.
There is glory, there is peace, there is magic in the garden. After the cold and dreary months of winter, a walk in the garden can be a marvel. Take a look around the garden and see the Spring bulbs poking their heads out with a burst of green. The trees start to come to life after their winter slumber. The grass starts to turn green once again.
Spring can be a busy time. Some gardeners bring some of their annuals in, like geraniums. I bring in some impatience plants as well in the winter. Do you start plants from seeds? For those who do, isn't it a wonder how a tiny seed sprouts in a few weeks, come Summer, you are rewarded with a burst of color and blooms.
Gardening is favorite hobby for many. There is more to this hobby than just the visual reward of color and foliage. Gardeners know that for a garden to thrive, soil, water, light, a lot of patience and yes, a lot of hours spent tending the plants are a must. Gardening is relaxing and therapeutic.
Grounding, Centering, Meditation, Reflection
Think of the how grounding gardening is. You are out there, getting dirt under your fingernails-even with proper garden gloves, your hands can still get dirty. Mine do! Enjoy the peace that grips your being as you tend your garden. First, the curiosity as you walk around the garden looking for signs of life, taking an assessment of what perennials survived the winter. After your walk around, sit down and just look at the garden, picture the blooms, the scents, the color. Do you realize just doing this for a few minutes is a period of meditation? Feel the caress of the gentle breeze, close your eyes, take a few deep breathes.
Communicate with Nature Spirits and the Elements
Throughout the gardening season, make a habit of sitting down, enjoy the rewards of your labor, look at your plants, close your eyes and listen to the wind, to the birds chirping or the rustling leaves. Close your eyes and try to picture the Nature Spirits in the garden. Yes, we are surrounded by the unseen and unnoticed nature spirits. If you learn to acknowledge them, they can become a very good ally. They can help to lighten your gardening chores.
Communicate with Nature.
As you till the soil, you are a friend of Mother Earth. Even the weeds you pull out serve a purpose. Pause a little and look up to the sky- think of the saying: As above, so Below. Feel the Earth beneath your feet as you look up to the sky. Gardening is one activity that makes you focused on what you are doing.
Garden Accessories
There are all kinds of garden accessories today. Don't hesitate to add these to a corner. It can be a focus point or a theme. Any item you bring in to your garden, take a few minutes to welcome it - after all, it will be a part of your garden.
