It is usual in the 21st century to be living in a neighborhood with identical houses stacked on top of one another with 10x10 foot lawns, and driveways barely large enough to fit a smart car. Many of these homes have backyards with lawns small enough to trim with household scissors and proximity to your neighbors that enables you to see that hairy mole on your neighbors back. Many of the senses are easily disturbed when we live so close to our neighbors. We can see the mole; smell and maybe taste the burgers on the barbecue, feel their eyes looking over your fence. One also has to wonder about sound.
We have all had neighbors that love to mow their lawns at 6am when even the excitable roosters are snoozing away. And one has to wonder if a cordless lawn mower is in fact more neighborly than the deafening gas powered mower that has been so popular in the past. Times are changing. Gone are the days when you could throw a stone in any direction and have it fall on your own property. Nowadays, you would have to pay to replace the window you broke, from the person who lives four houses down.
I think many of us will agree that cordless lawn mowers are the way of the future in urban landscapes. They are safer than their competitors, both gas and electric, and are eco-friendly as well, with zero emissions. There is no need to store flammable gas on your property to fill the mower every Saturday, and you do not have to worry about you or your soccer-ball-kicking kid tripping over the cord of your electric mower.
Another argument can be raised for those of us working shift work - when regular household tasks must be done at odd times of the day. Wouldn't it be great to mow your lawn at midnight without waking the neighbors? Cordless lawn mowers can also be stored vertically to take up less space in the urban garage, where backyard sheds are being utilized less due to the amount of available space.
Generally, people with a smaller lawn will choose to buy cordless lawn mowers. They are just as effective in trimming small, well maintained plots of land as competing models are, but the cost of operating them is mere pennies. Typical charges lasts 45 minutes to one hour with these machines, so store a spare battery and keep it charged ready for use. Also as gas prices become increasingly volatile, those who find themselves depending more on an alternative means of energy are generally less stressed when they see the pump price skyrocketing. Like all lawn mowers, their blades should be sharpened at least once a year for better results.
